A Colour Challenge

The lovely Karen Thomas shared this card on her blog and also on Stampin’ Up in Oz earlier this week using a colour combination she wasn’t too sure on. They aren’t normally colours I’d use together either but Karen had used them as the intended recipient of her card would like them.

As our new line up of challenges and things for 2010 hasn’t started yet on Stampin’ Up in Oz I decided to propose that we use these colours as a colour challenge and see what we could come up with.

So the colours are:

Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Lovely Lilac & Sage Shadow

I wanted to use a stamp set that I hadn’t used in a while. I first pulled out ‘Pick-A-Petal’ but didn’t like where that was going so chose another. This time I selected Thoughts & Prayers.

This is what I came up with.

Thoughts & Prayers - For You

I went with a Chocolate Chip base card which I’ve stamped the Weathered background in Chocolate Chip ink. I then tied some ‘retired’ Sage Shadow ribbon on. I’ve used Stampin’ Write markers and coloured directly to the stamp and then stamped this on some Whisper White cardstock. I then cut a strip of Summer Sun which I Eyelet Border punched and then added to the bottom of my main image. Using the ‘Basic Phrases’ stamp set and Chocolate Chip ink I stamped the ‘For You’ onto Lovely Lilac cardstock and then punched out using the Word Window Punch and adhered to the main image piece. I have then mounted this main piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

End result – I’m quite happy with this card and it wasn’t as hard as I thought. Wonder though if I can make another using this combination but with a different stamp set.

I’d love to see what others come up with using this colour combination. I’ve added Mr Linky below (well I hope I have) so if you’d like to share your card then add your direct link so everyone can check it out.

Till next time….

Happy Stamping
