I was so happy with how my Blueberry Crisp Tissue Box Cover turned out I decided I’d make another one for a gift I needed. Instead of making it the same though I chose to use the Elegant Soiree DSP along with the Awash with Flowers stamp set.
This is how it turned out.
I’m happy with how this one turned out too but I still think I like my Blueberry Crisp one more…….
The Cancer Council’s national Pink Ribbon Day is October 25th so Just Add Ink are basing this weeks challenge, JAI #38, on all things feminine, beautiful and proud. JUST ADD BLING…. and PINK!
I decided to combine the JAI #38 challenge with this weeks Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411, SSC172.
This is the sketch for this week.
I’m using a couple of new stamp sets, ribbon & DSP for this card.
There are so many great new items in the new Idea Book & Catalogue with lots of them favourites but one that stands out after making this card are the new Designer Series Paper Patterns Stacks. The patterns on these are so much subtler than they have been in the past which makes them so much easier to use and you get sheets in every colour for that colour collection. I’ve even managed to create something using them recently using a colour that isn’t one of my favourites and I love it. It’s actually a gift for someone but I don’t want to part with it….hahaha. I can’t share it with you yet but I will as soon as I can.
Back to my card for the JAI & Stamping 411 challenges.
Here’s what I came up with. The colour combination is from the new Colour Coach which is absolutely FANTASTIC. This is a ‘must have’ item from the new IB&C.
Supplies: Stamp sets: Greenhouse Garden, Style Beautiful Card: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Subtles DSP Stack – Pretty In Pink Inks: Pretty In Pink, Rich Razzleberry & Early Espresso Accessories: 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon, Jewels Basic Rhinestones, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Stampin’ Dimensionals.
There are so many great challenges that are posted every week and they are not only great to participate in but help get the mojo flowing. I haven’t participated in many for a while and some of the ones I regularly bookmark I never get around to doing in time.
The challenge I’ve used for the card I’m going to share with you is from The Sweet Shop Sketch Challenge Blog and is this weeks challenge SSS73.
When I saw this sketch I knew exactly what new Designer Series Paper and new Stamp set I wanted to use. I love how that happens. It makes your card come together so much quicker.
So without further ado……
Here is my card.
I’ve use the new Elegant Soiree DSP, Awash With Flowers stamp set with coordinating inkpads & cardstock. Each layer has been daubered around the edges. I’m loving that we now have a Crumb Cake (previously known as Kraft) inkpad. It’s nice and soft for edges of lighter cardstock and I’ve used it on the Very Vanilla and DSP edges. I unfortunately had to use retired ribbon as the only colour we had that would coordinate that is now current was Very Vanilla but I didn’t think that would look as good.
I took along a print out of some Sketches & Colour Challenges to the Team Stamp Camp to play with but I can’t find where I’ve now put it and this card was using one of those Sketches. I’ll try and locate where the sketch was from to give credit and update when I find it. If the sketch in this card looks familiar and you know where it’s from please let me know.
I didn’t take a lot of DSP away with me but I did pack the Cottage Wall papers and of course my Cottage Garden stamp set came too along with the necessary inkpads and cardstock colours. So that’s what I decided to use on this card.
I don’t mind the card but every time I look at it I think something is missing. It’s inline with the Sketch (the one I need to find again…..lol) but I just don’t know.
Any suggestions??
Maybe some bling on the flower and the Rich Razzleberry strips?? Hmmm….. I think I’m either going to have to try something or send the card on so I don’t keep wondering.
You may recall, that is if you have been reading my blog for a little while, that a few months back I was participating in my 3rd Round of Secret Sister in ESAD. I was very spoilt by my Secret Sister and I’m pretty sure the demo I sent to was happy with her gifts also but sometimes these swaps don’t always go according to plans. Be it life, unexpected illness or some other unexpected event, sometimes people don’t meet their commitments. This unfortunately was the case with some demonstrators and therefore their partners did not received all they were entitled to. The lovely organiser of the group therefore called on some other players to become Angel Sisters. I was happy to offer to send an extra gift to one of these ladies and today I’m going to share what I sent.
In her questionnaire she listed that she liked the stamp set “A Rose is a Rose” so I decide to use it before it retires. I teamed it with the Bella Rose DSP and coordinating cardstock, ribbon & ink colours.
Here’s the whole set (and I must apologise in advance for the photos as I forgot to snap some at home before going off to mail them so rather than come back and go out again I took them in the car on my phone…..lo)
Unfortunately you won’t be able to tell in any of the pictures but all the large roses and leaves have Dazzling Diamonds glitter in highlighted areas too.
First up I made the little ‘Tucked Away’ box from Timeless Templates.
Inside this box I placed a 1/2 dozen or so 2m lengths of some Stampin’ Up ribbons.
Next up I made a Chocolate Slider.
This of course contains a family sized Kit Kat chocolate bar.
The next item I made was the gift box.
Inside the gift box I packed a lot of consumable items – Stampin’ Dimensionals, snail refill, hemp twine, linen thread, brads, sanding blocks and sticky strip. I think these always come in handy and is usually what I always list on my questionnaires. I hope the recipient feels the same way.
And last of all came the card.
I was really happy with the end results and so hope the recipient enjoyed them too.
