Challenge 4

I’m back with the last of my original 4 ‘male’ themed cards I made earlier in the week. This one uses another Clean & Simple sketch this time FTL122. I’m using a new set that I purchased not too long ago and some ‘new for me to use’ DSP.

I will say in advance that I really like this card. It’s probably my favourite out of the 4. I love the colour combination, the DSP and the layout.

What do you think??

I think however if I was to use this card for a Stamp-A-Stack it would depend on how many were attending, but then again the DSP squares aren’t too large so you’d get a few out of each sheet. The Baja dsp is one of the ‘fancy’ border sheets and both are from the Nursery Suite DSP pack.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Seeing Stars, On Your Birthday
Card: Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White (insert)
Ink: Chocolate Chip.
Accessories: Extra Large Star Punch, Small star punch (retired).

So do you have a favourite of the 4?? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Till next time…..

Challenges 2

Todays card is using FTL107, a colour combination from the Colour Coach ( I must say I use the new style one more than I ever did the old one) and a stamp set that has been heavily neglected for years and years. It’s actually my oldest Stampin’ Up stamp set which I owned before Stampin’ Up came to Australia. I wonder how many of you have guessed what it was before you saw my card??????

I’m sure many of you will be asking ‘why has she been heavily neglecting this set as it’s one of my most used?’

It’s not that I don’t like it I just thinks it’s because I feel it’s more a masculine set and as I’ve said I don’t make too many of those types of cards.

If you have some creations that aren’t ‘masculine’ using this set please leave me a comment with a link to your creation so you might inspire me to use it more often.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Wonderfully Worn, Lovely As A Tree, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, On Your Birthday (insert)
Card: More Mustard, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Inks: More Mustard pad, Chocolate Chip & Garden Green markers.
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Word Window Punch.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think or with some ‘other’ ideas for this set not necessarily for males.

Till next time….

August Stamp-A-Stack

I was asked by one of my regular Stamp-A-Stack attendees to make a Black & White card with a touch of red for this month along with another Christmas Card. I don’t tend to use a lot of just ‘black and white’ and then recalled a card my upline, Marelle Taylor, had made a while back after a similar request. I changed the ribbon to Real Red and that’s what we made or will be making as my last group is on Monday.

Here’s a picture of both the ‘Black & White’ and the ‘Christmas’ card for this month.

Petal Pizzazz Birthday

My good friends’ little girl turns 6 years old this Tuesday and yesterday afternoon we celebrated at Lollipops with her. Lollipops is a play centre for children up to 12 years old with lots of climbing equipment, slides, ball play, etc. Great for tiring out those active children….hahaha. Every fortnight they also hold a disco from 6pm which happened to fall on this same day. The party started at 4:30pm and the children had a blast playing on the equipment until they went into the party room at 5pm. They then ate the usual party food, played games, sung Happy Birthday and ate cake and finally they form a chain and follow the birthday girl around the main area of the play centre while she is pulled along in a special cart and at the end they scream out the final ‘Happy Birthday’. Just after the disco started. The disco is actually run by ‘Bop Till You Drop’ which you may recall is the company I hired to do my 3rd daughter, Lauren’s 10th birthday party at home back in May. Lauren loves to sing and dance so of course she made sure she got to sing before we left.

Anyway back to why you have stopped by and that is to see what I’ve created. Obviously with a birthday party to attend we needed a card and I also created matching wrapping paper.

Charlize's 6th Birthday card & gift wrapping

I recently saw a new way (well new to me anyway) of making an opening for the sweet treat cups to remove the contents without damaging the card and wanted to try it out. The large flower from the Petal Pizzazz stamp set is perfect for the Sweet Treat cups so that’s what I’ve used. The colours are really not me as they are too bright, but for a 6 year old I’m sure they are fine.

I love how the wrapping paper turned out. Usually my gifts are too big to create my own paper so it wraps nicely. This gift was just the right size.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Petal Pizzazz, On Your Birthday
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Inks: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Summer Sun
Accessories: 1 3/4” Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Sweet Treat cup, sponge dauber, Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon.

In case you are wondering about the ‘new way’ I recently discovered of making an opening to remove the Sweet Treat cup contents without damaging the card here’s a photo to show you. I can’t remember the exact blog I saw this on and actually think I saw it in 2 places only days apart so this is by no means my idea just me trying it out.

I’ve cut a door in the back of the cardstock (only cut through 3 sides) and then made a catch using the word window punch which is held in place with a brad. Turn the catch and you can open the back and eat the yummy Skittles…..

This type of opening meant this card was finished in no time…..

Till next time….

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #32

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #32 closeup

I am so thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Makeesha’s Colour Challenge this week.

We had some of my favourite colours to work with which made it less of a ‘challenge’ I suppose although so far, being that it’s school holidays, I’ve still only managed 1 card for the Challenge. Hopefully I’ll get to make a few more.

When I first saw the colours I immediately was drawn to the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set.

Here are the gorgeous colours we got to play with and now you can too. Just create a card or project using the colours in the challenge, pop on over to Makeesha’s site, scroll down till you find the InLinkz “Add Your Link’ button and add your details. Maybe you’ll have the opportunity of being a Guest Designer next……..

And here is my full creation. Unfortunately the colours on the cupcakes don’t show up as well in this photograph but you can see it better in the close up above.

Nikki Stalker - Inkspiration Colour Challenge #32

Regal Rose would have to be my all time favourite Pink to date and So Saffron my all time favourite Yellow however I am holding out to see the new Daffodil Delight when it’s released here in Australia on 1st September. Maybe with the new colour changes my all time favourites might change too…..lol

I’ve kept the card fairly simply and used the Saturday Sketch Challenge 158 from Stamping 411. I’ve added one of Teneale Williams Perfect Faux Bows and you can’t really tell on this full card but on the snippet above you might be able to see that I’ve added some Crystal Effects to the cherries……

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Crazy for Cupcakes
Card: Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
Ink: Stazon Black, So Saffron, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Regal Rose 5/8” Grosgrain Ribbon, So Saffron button (Button Latte), Hemp Twine, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Blender Pen, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Till next time…..
