Hit Counter

The past 5 weeks or so…….

Finally the hectic past 5 weeks or so is behind me and things should be at a more manageable level so that I can create and share with you all.

So what’s been going on in my life over the past 5 weeks or so.

I did fill you all in on Lauren’s (my 3rd daughter) birthday back at the beginning of May and shared her party bags. They were a hit and so was the Disco Party. We had a company called Bop Till You Drop come in and do the Disco part and they were fabulous. The lovely young lady, Candice, was amazing with the children. I can highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again if my youngest would like a Disco party sometime within the next couple of years. Go check out their site.

Here’s a couple of photos of Lauren and her friends enjoying themselves.

009        019

That’s Lauren in the centre.

My good friend Meighan and I even got up and danced and I also got ropped into singing with Lauren. I guess I really shouldn’t say ropped in as I did put my hand up and held out ‘pick me, pick me’ but I really didn’t think I’d get picked…..lol.

After Lauren’s party came Convention which was held in Sydney again this year on the 21st & 22nd May. It was a great couple of days as always. I got to put faces to names of some of the demonstrators in Stampin’ Up in Oz which was lovely. I also caught up with some demonstrators from interstate that I only see at Convention. Mind you the first time I saw some of them was in the wee hours of the morning on the first or was it the second fire evacuation from where we were staying. Turned out to be a false alarm but they had to play it safe just wish we weren’t on the top floor (only 13 though) and didn’t have to walk all the way down. I was a bit knackered that first day of Convention and almost fell asleep on Jodene’s shoulder in the last class for the day. Unfortunately I didn’t take any ‘people’ shots myself (busy taking display/sample shots) so I’ve pinched this photo from the lovely Jodene Tripp of our Stampin’ Up in Oz members.

As you can probably see the my weight loss goal I posted earlier in the year hasn’t happened for me yet. I’m in the red top, second from the left……lol   I must however get serious about this as I need to have a public swim suit body for this summer for our family holiday to Fiji…..

The last thing on the agenda after Convention was my 40th Birthday complete with my 1st ever Birthday Party. I tell you I’m not going to wait another 40 years for a party. Hubby is 5 years older than me so I figured we can have a party every 5 years alternating of course. So next up will be his 50th.

Here are the invitations I made.

Birthday Invites

I had decided to order a Cocktail Slushie machine so I thought the Cheers to You set would be appropriate to use on the invites. Do you notice what else I’ve used???

Yes Bold Bright colours…….

My wonderful friend and downline, Katie Halden, had offered to make my Birthday cake as her gift to me. Unfortunately she needed something to work with so I needed to pick a colour theme for my party. I love Blue Topaz and Aquamarine so they of course made me think Tempting Turquoise and then when I went to the party shop they had Tempting Turquoise plates, bowls, cutlery and napkins in the exact same colour. So decision was made. Tempting Turquoise it was and so that’s when I started on the Invitations. The middle cocktail resembles the Midori Alluzion that we had while the left cocktail resembles the Strawberry Daiquiri which was the selection. I know it’s a bit more pink than the actual cocktail was but didn’t think Real Red or Ruby Red would look as good. That ‘40’ stamped image is the only non-SU item I used.

As I mentioned Katie was making my cake so once she had the Tempting Turquoise colour as something to work with she went to work, so to speak. She was concocting something with my eldest daughter in regards to photos and I kept wondering if they were going to do some embarrassing photo slideshow or something but my eldest daughter and husband both assured me it wasn’t and that I would like what they were doing.

So this is what they were up to.

Isn’t it fantastic!!!!

Here’s another picture of my family and I and of course the cake…..

Don’t you just love how happy some of my girls look……lol. You can never get a nice picture of us with everyone smiling. I’ve learned to live with that. I probably should learn my Photoshop program better and then I can switch out the unsmiling children for another shot of them smiling……  Mind you I think everyone that knows us would realised it must have been Photoshopped……

Back to the cake…..

That film strip around the bottom of the cake is edible and Katie has placed images of things of meaning to me. Of course you should be able to spot the Stampin’ Up! logo there, and all the others are either TV shows that I like, Twilight and New Moon, along with Sex in the City 2 (which I took myself to see on my birthday with a free ticket from Hoyts.. thank you very much) a picture of hubby and our girls and some books I’ve read.

This blew me away to the point that after blowing out the candle I told everyone that even though they wanted cake I just couldn’t cut it…..lol.  I did though so don’t worry everyone got some and it was delicious.

Thank you again so much Katie for both your friendship and your fabulous cake that made my birthday even more special.

On top of this very generous gift from Katie I also received another ‘party’ gift from my wonderful upline and her husband. That would be Marelle & Dave Taylor. Dave owns Mad Balloons so guess what they contributed to making my Birthday Party even more special that just attending.

That’s right…..some balloon decorations. Dave actually arrived earlier in the afternoon to set these up for me and I was flabbergasted.

There were 3 of these

and then these were on the tables and around the rooms.

You can’t really tell from the picture but some of these balloons had flashing lights in them.

Notice the slushie machine. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try one out until just before the party started at 6pm. They were yummy…….

Thank you so much Dave & Marelle. You helped make my birthday even more special by making my house look even more like a party was going on.

Here’s another picture of my 3 youngest girls dressed up (make-up and all thanks to their older sister) and guess what they are all smiling……

To all my wonderful friends who celebrated with me last Saturday. Thank You. You made my night very special and I really appreciate it. I just wish I had of had more time to catch up with some.

Now back to stamping……

I have created a little over the past 5 weeks or so but mainly just my Secret Sister gifts which now that the reveal has taken place I can share with you what I made and sent to her. I also have some more photos to share with you of the items I received from my wonderful partner at Convention.

So over the next few days there should be some more regular posting of creations and with any luck tomorrow I will finally get some crafting time and have more lined up.

Till next time…..

Pony Party Birthday Invites

The Pony Party set is a cute set but not one I initially thought I’d purchase. However with my sales and recruiting through the Sale-A-bration period I earned Free stamp sets so decided I would select this set for one of those. I figured if I didn’t end up using it much I hadn’t actually outlayed money for it and then when it retired my girls would surely love to use it. (If they are good enough I’ll let them borrow it before then….hahaha)

Now having said all that when it came around to organising my daughter Lauren’s upcoming 10th Birthday Invitations it was the set I thought of straight away. Lauren’s having a ‘Disco Party’ for her birthday and Bop Till You Drop are coming along and doing the whole thing. Of course I’ll still have to organise food, party bags, and extra games for the last hour, as Bop Till You Drop are only here for the first 2 hours, but I’ll be able to have some fun too. I’ve already told my girls that if they aren’t going to ‘boogie’ I sure will be…….hahaha.

As the theme is ‘Disco’ and a Pony really doesn’t fit that theme normally but a glittered Pony does. Well I think so anyway.

Here’s the end result.

and a close-up of the glittered Pony  Lauren's Invite close up

For the inside I printed the details onto Whisper White card using my printer and then cut them out with the Top Note Big Shot Die.

(I’ve blacked out the details as I think 20 screaming girls in the house will be more than ample….hahaha)

I’ve stamped some butterflies and flowers on the Whisper White Top Note and daubered around the edges to give it that extra touch too.

I was very happy with the end result and received some lovely comments from some of the invited children and one of the mum’s that day.
