June Technique Class

I’m back as promised to share my June Technique Cards with you.

First up was a quick and easy one showing the Watercolour Wash technique.

All you need for this technique is some Watercolour Paper, an Aqua Painter and a couple of coordinating inkpads.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Lovely as a Tree, Just Believe

Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red
Accessories: Word Window Punch, Sponge Dauber, Aqua Painter

For the second card we did Crayon Resist.

P1030883 copy

Usually when I’ve done Crayon Resist in the past I’ve used Gloss Cardstock. Seeing how Stampin’ Up! aren’t selling Gloss Cardstock from 1st July I’ve done the technique using Whisper White cardstock.

This card was inspired by one I came across online made by Paula Dobson, but I’ve made a few changes and additions to make it a little more my own.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Creative Elements, Word Play
Card: Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Stazon Jet Black, Summer Starfruit, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Sponges, Elegant Eggplant Dotted Scallop Ribbon, White Wax Crayon.

Those that attended my class made one of each of these cards and a sample of the technique. The sample is attached to an instruction card provided for future reference.

Secret Sister – October items.

October was the final month for the swap. Juliette had now updated her questionnaire with her favourite DSP and stamp set. Unfortunately for me it’s a DSP I’m not really wrapped in so didn’t have any of it and I don’t have the stamp set and wasn’t intending on purchasing, at least not right now. What to do???? Luckily for me my lovely upline, Marelle Taylor, had a small portion of the DSP which I gladly traded for the Tissue Box Cover she commissioned me to make for her recently.  Now what to make with it.

On Juliette’s wish list was the lovely Christmas set – Bells & Boughs. I love this set myself so knew as soon as I saw it on the list that it was one of the items I’d use for her final gift. This is how I packed the stamp set.

That ‘small’ portion of DSP I mentioned was 1 x 6” x 12” piece of each print. This meant I was limited at times but I think I adapted this piece okay. The back of the box base is decorated the same (minus the bow of course). The back of the lid is blank.

I then made a card to co-ordinate with this box using up a small remaining piece of this pattern along with a small piece of another print.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Tea Shoppe, Papillon Potpourri, Heard from the Heart (retired)
Card: Pacific Point, Whisper White, International Bazaar DSP
Ink: Pool Party, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Tangerine Tango Scallop Dots Ribbon, Scallop Square, 1 1/4” Square & Elegant Butterfly Punches, Basic Jewels – Rhinestones, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

The rest of Juliette’s gift was a pack of the new Kraft Gift Boxes and Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons. I was going to make up a box but due to the size I would need to make a 12” x 12” piece of cardstock for the base would just not do it. In the end I decided the best way was to use a white paper carry bag and decorate it. So that’s what I did and this is the end result.

Again I had to work with the size of the DSP I had but I really like how this turned out. I cut a piece of Daffodil Delight 0.5cm wider on each side and then 1cm wider on each side in Rich Razzleberry.  I used the Daydream Medallion Stamp set and Floral Frames Framelits to make the flower embellishment.

For my final card I used the left over DSP from the bag and came up with this.

A very simple card but hopefully Juliette still liked it.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Daydream Medallion, Word Play
Card: Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Whisper White
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Versamark
Accessories: Floral Frames Framelits, Brights Designer Buttons, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Big Shot, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

After finishing Juliette’s item using the International Bazaar DSP I had changed my mind slightly. I could see me using these prints again but it’s not enough yet to make my want a full pack of my own as I’m not sure I’d use the other prints.

Secret Sister – September items.

September was the start of a new catalogue which also meant we’d update our questionnaires with new items on our Wish Lists, our new favourite DSP’s and stamp sets and any other changes. Juliette updated her wish list but didn’t update her dsp and stamp sets so I had to go with my instincts on this months items.

I was a little unorganised in September with school holidays and concentrating on my own orders for new goodies that I forgot to order my items I wanted to send to Juliette until almost mid month so she received all her items at the end of the month.

I sent her gift and 1 card by Express Post and the final card for the month by regular. I hoped they would get there 1 day apart but before the month finished. They did.

Here’s the first card and gifts I sent.

I used the Floral District DSP for this set. The colours in this pattern are Rose Red, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.

So what are the gifts??

P1020649

First up is…….

A box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates and some Nescafe Cappuccino Sachets.

What’s in the other little box??

P1020651

A bottle of each of the Dazzling Details.

That helped Juliette mark 2 items off her wish list.

Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the second card but I’ll see if Juliette can send one to me and I’ll edit the post.

Pop back tomorrow to see the final gift and cards I created and delivered.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Circle Circus, Word Play
Card: Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Floral District DSP
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Rose Red
Accessories: 1 3/4” Scallop Circle, 1 3/8” Circle, 1” Circle Punches, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Paper-Piercing Tool, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Subtles Designer Buttons, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Silver Brads, Rose Red Seam Binding.

Thanks A Million

I’m back with another card for a couple of challenges. This time I’m using Colour Challenge #77 from Rubber Redneck and Sketch Challenge SFF083112 from Sketch Frenzy Friday.

Color Round Up #77

This is what I came up with.

P1020639

A very simple card but I’m happy with the results. The top layers are all on dimensionals so it gives it some added depth in real life.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Word Play
Card: Basic Black, Whisper White, In Color 2011 – 2013 Patterns Stack (Calypso Coral & Lucky Limeade)
Ink: Stampin’ Write Markers – Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral & Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Would love to hear what you think.

Till next time….

This is my final week of being a Guest Designer over at Just Add Ink.

This week we were give a sketch.

I found this one a real challenge. I’m not overly happy with my results and plan on spending some time today recreating it with  a few different touches to see if I come up with something I’m happier with. I think if I could just have some ribbon in the colour I’d prefer to have used that would even have made a difference…… Oh well with any luck their might be some revamping of ribbon with the next IB&C which isn’t too far away really.

Here’s my end creation (so far).

Nikki Stalker

See what I mean?

I’m sure it would like nicer straight away if we had some ‘Not Quite Navy’ ribbon to replace the Very Vanilla. I’m also thinking I should have layer the smaller pattern paper piece onto Not Quite Navy rather than the Sahara Sand so that will be something I’ll change. I also have some other thoughts about changes too so we’ll see what I can come up with later.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Word Play
Card: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Blueberry Crisp DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Pearls.

Check back later today to see how my ‘revamped’ card turns out.

Edited to add:

Here’s my revamped card.

P1000995

I’ve added some stitching, a layer of Not Quite Navy behind the print piece of dsp and changed out the Very Vanilla ribbon to some Not Quite Navy cardstock.

I don’t know what you think but I think these changes lift the card more than the original.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Till next time…..
