JAI 73

JAI_GuestDT

This is my final week of being a Guest Designer over at Just Add Ink.

This week we were give a sketch.

I found this one a real challenge. I’m not overly happy with my results and plan on spending some time today recreating it with  a few different touches to see if I come up with something I’m happier with. I think if I could just have some ribbon in the colour I’d prefer to have used that would even have made a difference…… Oh well with any luck their might be some revamping of ribbon with the next IB&C which isn’t too far away really.

Here’s my end creation (so far).

Nikki Stalker

See what I mean?

I’m sure it would like nicer straight away if we had some ‘Not Quite Navy’ ribbon to replace the Very Vanilla. I’m also thinking I should have layer the smaller pattern paper piece onto Not Quite Navy rather than the Sahara Sand so that will be something I’ll change. I also have some other thoughts about changes too so we’ll see what I can come up with later.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Word Play
Card: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Blueberry Crisp DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Pearls.

Check back later today to see how my ‘revamped’ card turns out.

Edited to add:

Here’s my revamped card.

P1000995

I’ve added some stitching, a layer of Not Quite Navy behind the print piece of dsp and changed out the Very Vanilla ribbon to some Not Quite Navy cardstock.

I don’t know what you think but I think these changes lift the card more than the original.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Till next time…..

JAI #71–Black & White

JAI_GuestDT

This weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink is to use Black & White only in your creation and is Challenge JAI 71.

I’m really happy with how my card turned out this week, especially since it was a bit of a rush job as I’d left it ‘last minute’ to complete. I do mean ‘last minute’ too as I was making this card at around 11pm the night it was due to be submitted. That’s not usually like me but I’d overlooked it till around 2pm that day and had other things on with my family that afternoon and evening before I could sit down and create something. I’m just glad the idea and card all came together reasonably easy. The hardest part was deciding on what words/sentiment to put on it.

Anyway enough rambling, here’s my card.

I went for a nice clean look with this card.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Tiny Tags, Punch Potpourri (Hostess set)
Card: Basic Black, Whisper White, Neutrals Pattern Stack – Basic Black
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Two-Step Bird Punch, Jewelry Tag Medium, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Pearls, Two-Way Glue Pen, Snail Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Crochet Cotten (non-SU)

So what do you think??

Butterfly Thanks

P1000952

Doesn’t this butterfly look great??

It’s an idea I’ve CASED from Kirsty Brown. Kirsty was one of the Australian Demonstrators at Convention who did a Workshop WOW presentation for us. You can check out the card she did for the presentation here. Kirsty used a technique on her card but I decided to just use some of our gorgeous Designer Series Paper instead. I will be making more though and will definitely put the rest of Kirsty’s presentation idea into another.

I’ve combined Kirsty’s idea with a challenge, surprisingly so, for my creation today.

The challenge is from The Paper Players and is Challenge #50.

So would you like to see the whole card?

Here it is.

P1000954

I’m not sure I like how the sentiment ended up on this one but it’s actually covering up a ‘first’ idea which I didn’t like at all.  You may also notice that the inside has an edge of the image stamped down the side and some of the DSP the butterfly is cut from along the bottom to carry the look through.

Supplies:
Stamp set: Notably Ornate, Thank You Kindly
Card: Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Love Letters DSP, Neutrals Pattern Stack – Very Vanilla, Regals Pattern Stack – Riding Hood Red
Ink: Basic Black, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies die, Basic Jewels – Pearls, Very Vanilla 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 2-Way Glue Pen, Snail Adhesive.

I’d love to hear what you think of my creation so please leave me a comment.

Till next time….

Secret Sister Part 3

I meant to post this last week but I got tied up with a few things. Firstly I took my girls shopping for new clothes on the Wednesday which was the last day of school holidays, took myself on the Thursday so I could actually try things on and also went to the movies to see Fast and Furious 5, Friday I had a few things on then Saturday we picked up my brand new car. I’m so excited as I’ve never has a brand brand newy before. That new car smell is wonderful. So of course since then I’ve been running around a little more getting the feel of the car but also getting some thing done before heading off to Melbourne next week.

I’m stuck at home today as we are getting our solar panels put on today so I’m hoping to not only get a few posts up today but to also create and have some more ready for over the following few days. I’m also hoping to come up with a quick card idea for some swap cards for Convention. If I’m not successful then this will be the first Convention I haven’t made any swaps for. You know what? If that’s the way it ends up I’m not really bothered. No point in stressing myself out this late in time.

Enough rambling, now on to my gift for April.

All my April requirements were actually hand delivered together.

Seeing how April was the month for Easter this year I wanted to make a little something extra for my partner and her children.

P1000609

This is the 1st card I made.

I’ve used the new Eat Chocolate stamp set from the Autumn/Winter Mini and the layout is a sketch from Clean & Simple.  The colours I’ve used are from the Colour Coach and are Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink & Very Vanilla.

The Eat Chocolate set also has a new punch that coordinates with some of the images and that is the Modern Label punch also available in the Autumn/Winter Mini. P1000607

For my partners children I CASED some Top Note Bunnies from Tammy.

In the back there is a cello bag with some small Easter eggs. My partner has a son and daughter so I placed a bow on one for her daughter.

For my partner I’d purchased a small box of Cadbury Easter eggs so I made a box to present them in which coordinates with the rest of her months gifts using the Elegant Soiree DSP.

I’ve used another image from the Eat Chocolate stamp set. The circles are from the Circle Die for the Big Shot.

So that covers the Easter portion of the months gifts. Now to share the rest.

As mentioned I’ve coordinated the remainder of the gifts using the Elegant Soiree DSP. I’ve used a mixture of new stamp sets and an oldies but much loved by both my partner and myself.

Final April gift

The card is a Triangle Star card which I came across on Frances’ (AKA Stamp Owl’s Studio) blog which she has graciously shared a tutorial for here.  Here’s a close up of the front and also one of the card opened.

The next item I made was the Keeping Tabs box which is one of Lauren Meader’s Time Templates.

P1000605P1000606

I’ve used Crumb Cake cardstock to make the main box and then decorated with the Elegant Soiree DSP. I’ve stamped the cotton reel and tape measure images from the new Sew Suite using coordinating colours and used these to embellish the front of the box. The ribbon is retired Kraft Taffeta.

Inside the box I’ve placed samples of product into cello bags which I’ve tied with either Kraft Taffeta ribbon or Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon. On the right side the cello bags contain Paper Daisies and 1/8” Taffeta ribbon samples. The left side contains samples of Pom Pom trim in all 3 colours along with samples of the Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons.

P1000602

This last box was made to fit the Spritzer Tool and Basic Jewels – Pearl pack which completed my gifts.

So that completes Round 4 of our Secret Sister Swap on Stampin’ Up in Oz.  The next round will start in June with sign-ups being taken now. If you’d like to participate, just pop over to Stampin’ Up in Oz and request to join. You do need to live in Australia to join this group but you don’t have to be a demonstrator, just love using Stampin’ Up products. Upon requesting to join you will be sent a pendingmembership.doc from yahoo so keep watch as I can’t approve anyone until this is read and returned with requested information.

Till next time….

Here For You

P1000436

It’s a dreary raining day here in Sydney today but that makes for the perfect day to sit and create. So that’s what I’ve been doing.

I’ve got a list of weekly challenges printed out with dates I need to get them done by and so many of them need to be up in the next few days. To try and get as many of them done as I can, if I can combine a colour and sketch challenge, I do.

Today’s 1st card is doing just that.

I have a new challenge on my agenda that my lovely downline Sandra posted on her blog recently so thought I’d give that one a go. This is the jac-inks Papercraft Challenges challenge #1.

The challenge they have this week is a colour challange.

             Neutrals + one other colour.

For the Sketch Challenge I’ve gone with is this weeks Mojo Monday 177.

 P1000434

I knew exactly what stamp set I wanted to use for this card, however the initial colours I thought I’d used changed. I’m so glad I did change them though as I really love how this card turned out. It fell together a lot easier than I thought it was going to.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Fast & Fabulous (Hostess), Friends 24-7
Card: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Neutrals Pattern Stack – Crumb Cake, Brights Pattern Stack – Rich Razzleberry
Ink: Early Espresso, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: 1 1/4” & 1 3/8” Circle Punches, Early Espresso 3/8” Taffeta Ribbon, Brights Button Pack – Rich Razzleberry, Basic Jewels – Pearls, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Crochet Cotton (non-SU)

Edited to add: My card was a winner over on  jac-inks Papercraft Challenges
