Colour Combination site using Stampin’ Up colours

Angel Gift

You may recall, that is if you have been reading my blog for a little while, that a few months back I was participating in my 3rd Round of Secret Sister in ESAD. I was very spoilt by my Secret Sister and I’m pretty sure the demo I sent to was happy with her gifts also but sometimes these swaps don’t always go according to plans. Be it life, unexpected illness or some other unexpected event, sometimes people don’t meet their commitments. This unfortunately was the case with some demonstrators and therefore their partners did not received all they were entitled to. The lovely organiser of the group therefore called on some other players to become Angel Sisters. I was happy to offer to send an extra gift to one of these ladies and today I’m going to share what I sent.

In her questionnaire she listed that she liked the stamp set “A Rose is a Rose” so I decide to use it before it retires. I teamed it with the Bella Rose DSP and coordinating cardstock, ribbon & ink colours.

Here’s the whole set (and I must apologise in advance for the photos as I forgot to snap some at home before going off to mail them so rather than come back and go out again I took them in the car on my phone…..lo)

Angel Gift set

Unfortunately you won’t be able to tell in any of the pictures but all the large roses and leaves have Dazzling Diamonds glitter in highlighted areas too.

First up I made the little ‘Tucked Away’ box from Timeless Templates.

Tucked Away box

Inside this box I placed a 1/2 dozen or so 2m lengths of some Stampin’ Up ribbons.

Next up I made a Chocolate Slider.

This of course contains a family sized Kit Kat chocolate bar.

The next item I made was the gift box.

Box open

Inside the gift box I packed a lot of consumable items – Stampin’ Dimensionals, snail refill, hemp twine, linen thread, brads, sanding blocks and sticky strip. I think these always come in handy and is usually what I always list on my questionnaires. I hope the recipient feels the same way.

And last of all came the card.

Card

I was really happy with the end results and so hope the recipient enjoyed them too.

Till next time….

Cottage Wall DSP Gift Boxes

Back in this post I shared an Easter Gift box I had made for my March Secret Sister Gift. Well today I’m going to share with you that same box remade using the lovely Cottage Wall DSP that is available in the current Autumn/Winter mini catalogue.

This first one I also made for Easter eggs for me just in case no one else in the family remembered me……lol

Box 1a

Box 1b

In case your were wondering, yes I did receive easter eggs and this box is still as is in the picture complete with eggs still inside. Must change that soon……

A friend of mine saw this one and wanted a class on it. She made hers like this one but I made a different colour combination for the same pack of DSP and this is how that one looks.

Box 2a

I really liked both of these combinations.

As I mentioned in the Easter post the divided insert is loose so you could remove it and package a different gift inside.

I ended up making a Pillow Box to match both boxes.

Pillow Boxes

I’ve used some of the Flower Fantasy Printed Window Sheets to add a window. The Rich Razzleberry Pillow Box has some Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry Ribbon inside. These are so quick to whip up using your Big Shot of course.

Secret Sister gifts sent for May

Complete Gift front on

This is the main gift & card that I sent my sister, Kerri Donsky, for May which is the final month.

I made, what I’m calling, a desktop caddy for Kerri which has a compartment in the back section to put some On Board Chipboard. Hopefully Kerri has room on her desk and will put it to use.

Complete Gift with Card 2 with chipboard arrow

The drawers all contained some goodies to play with too.

The top drawers had Flower Fusion, Flower Fusion Too and Die Cut Blooms.

The middle drawers had Linen Thread and Square Metal tags.

The bottom drawers had Taffeta ribbon and Hemp Twine.

 Brad Pizza Box closed

I originally wanted to put some Rhinestone Brads into one of the drawers but the container wouldn’t fit so I made this mini pizza box for those.

Chocolate Slider open

I couldn’t send her final gift without including some more Lindt Chocolate so I made this  Chocolate Slider to coordinate.

Here’s a closer look at the card that completed the whole set.

Card 2

and the inside

Of course there needed to be a second card for the month to complete my commitment and here that is.

Card 1

I’ve gone with one of my favourite sets for this card, Fifth Avenue Floral, but have used Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette that Kerri likes. I’ve also thrown in some Regal Rose.

Card 1 inside

Some finishing touches to the inside.

So that’s the end of Round 3 Secret Sister in our demonstrator group ESAD.

Till next time….

Lauren’s Party Bags.

My original intention was to make Lauren some of those gorgeous Paper Shoes that I was reminded about recently. When I asked her if that was okay she went…”Hmmmmm…..”. “Okay then, what would you like me to do?” Not sure that was a smart idea now.

“Can you make these handbags?”

Haute Couture bags 1

Remember these from a recent post.

Ahhh….yes okay.

My first thought was, great I can use up some of that retired DSP I keep hording. Then it hit me. I’d have to print up 60 sheets of DSP,  cut out 180 individual pieces, use 80 brads of various sorts + ribbons, sticky strip, etc. Now using up the 60 sheets of DSP, brads and ribbon isn’t such a big deal (could be an expensive exercise, but hey, it’s sales), but cutting out 180 pieces. Very time consuming.

Then I remembered some handbags I’d recently seen on Becky Robert’s blog here and also on Kerri Donsky’s blog here. Becky mentioned it was one of her projects from UStamp with Love and I had actually forgotten all about it. So off I went into my UStamp folder and found the tutorial….

These were going to be much easier and hopefully quicker to make which is what I wanted more than a bit more classier as I think these ones pictured are. After all I wonder how many of the children will still have them a day or two after the party……

So I showed Lauren the picture of the ‘new style’ bag and she said….”Yep that’s okay those look great too”.  Phew……

The next task was to find 20 different sheets of DSP that have either Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze or Rose Red in them as I needed to use the 1” Double-Stitched Grosgrain ribbon for the handles. Guess what? I did. Well I did have to include a retired ribbon too but I’ll tell you about that below.

Here’s a shot of all the 20.

All 20 bags

Lots of Rose Red ribbon in there.

I started off with retired papers first and came across some Berry Bliss DSP, however that was Close to Cocoa in that pack, but then I remembered I still had some Purely Pomegranate Satin ribbon which is the same width. I managed to pick out 2 different sheets from this pack. Next came 1 piece from the Summer Picnic pack. This is how they look.

Retired papers 1

Next up was the retired packs of Spring Showers and Spring Flowers. I found 1 full sheet from each pack to use and here they are….

Retired papers 2

Retired Bali Breeze came next and I found 3 different sheets to use……

Retired papers 3

That was it with the retired papers. That’s 8 sheets less I’m hording now though.

Moving on now to the current Designer Series Papers and first up is Sweet Always and Washington Apple with 1 sheet from each.

Sweet Always & Washington Apple

Followed by Urban Garden with another 2 sheets……

Urban Garden

Then Good Morning Sunshine with another 2……

Good Morning Sunshine

and the final 6 are from Raspberry Tart….

Raspberry Tart

I don’t actually think I could pick a favourite as every time I put a new one together I liked that one too. Along with using up some retired DSP, I put some retired buttons and a little ribbon to use too.

So I don’t have any arguments over which child wants which bag I have told Lauren that I will put all the names of those attending into a hat, line the bags up and then pick out the names. Whoever comes out first gets bag number 1, second will get bag number 2, and so on. I’m going to make tags and put the children’s initials on them (using the new Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Big Shot die) so it will just be hand out the one with their initials on it as they are leaving. Even my girls wont get to choose.

I managed to get all 20 of these done (amongst other things, including a class) in 1 1/2 days. I had it down to a fine art and could quite easily have made another 20 without getting bored with it. I think having an array of designer series papers and waiting to see the end result, keeps it interesting. We went and purchased the Pinata for the party and all the lollies to go inside and in the Party bags on Saturday so apart from food, drinks and cake (which is usually and Ice-Cream cake, yummo….) we are pretty much organised with 2 weeks to spare before her Birthday.

Next on my agenda is making Mother’s Day cards for school.

Till next time…..
