I’d selected the ‘Creative Elements’ stamp set but then wasn’t sure where to go from there. I then realised that one of the prints on the Mocha Morning DSP is very similar to one of the images in the stamp set so now I have ‘a’ colour to use, but what other colours will I put with it. Hmmmmm….
This is what I ended up with.
I’ve gone with a colour scheme of Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla and added an extra layer to the sketch for my base card.
The piece of Basic Black cardstock has been embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder for some extra texture but I’m not sure that shows up too well in this photo.
I’m quite happy with how this turned out. Still unsure if some Pearls would add a nice touch or be a bit too much. Any suggestions??
The inside of the card needed to be dressed up too so this is how that turned out.
I’m here with a card for 2 challenges today. I’m so excited that I’ve actually participated in some challenges again and hope that it’s the start to regular challenge cards from me.
This is my final week of being a Guest Designer over at Just Add Ink.
This week we were give a sketch.
I found this one a real challenge. I’m not overly happy with my results and plan on spending some time today recreating it with a few different touches to see if I come up with something I’m happier with. I think if I could just have some ribbon in the colour I’d prefer to have used that would even have made a difference…… Oh well with any luck their might be some revamping of ribbon with the next IB&C which isn’t too far away really.
Here’s my end creation (so far).
See what I mean?
I’m sure it would like nicer straight away if we had some ‘Not Quite Navy’ ribbon to replace the Very Vanilla. I’m also thinking I should have layer the smaller pattern paper piece onto Not Quite Navy rather than the Sahara Sand so that will be something I’ll change. I also have some other thoughts about changes too so we’ll see what I can come up with later.
Supplies: Stamp sets: Word Play Card: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Blueberry Crisp DSP Ink: Not Quite Navy Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Pearls.
Check back later today to see how my ‘revamped’ card turns out.
Edited to add:
Here’s my revamped card.
I’ve added some stitching, a layer of Not Quite Navy behind the print piece of dsp and changed out the Very Vanilla ribbon to some Not Quite Navy cardstock.
I don’t know what you think but I think these changes lift the card more than the original.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
I’ve made a few attempt to sit and create over the past few weeks but with no success. My Mojo still hasn’t come back after my ‘family issues’ which is a shame as I was on a roll till everything happened. I’ve printed up some challenges, sat down and looked at them and had no idea what to create. Couldn’t even select a stamp set for a colour combo or a sketch. Instead I’ve been doing lots of reading. I love books but I’m running out of storage space for them all and I really don’t like going to the library and borrowing books. I’d rather own them. So what did I do? I finally converted over and purchased myself a Kindle and I love it. I’ll be purchasing all future books this way unless it’s only available in paper…… I’ve have managed to put it down for a little while though and try and get creating again.
Earlier today I printed up 2 pages of challenges for sites that I like to participate in hoping to get back in the swing of things. I then decided to pull out all my new Autumn/Winter Mini sets as I need to start using these before they aren’t available anymore. I know that sounds odd as they have only just been released but unless my mojo comes back in leaps and bounds I many not get around to using them enough which would be a shame especially if they don’t end up in our next Idea Book & Catalogue 2011|2012 which will be released on 1st September.
