Birthday Elements

I have another Birthday card to share with you today as you can never have enough of them.

For this card I’ve used this weeks Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge PPA131.

PPA131

I’d selected the ‘Creative Elements’ stamp set but then wasn’t sure where to go from there. I then realised that one of the prints on the Mocha Morning DSP is very similar to one of the images in the stamp set so now I have ‘a’ colour to use, but what other colours will I put with it. Hmmmmm….

This is what I ended up with.

P1010640

I’ve gone with a colour scheme of Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla and added an extra layer to the sketch for my base card.

The piece of Basic Black cardstock has been embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder for some extra texture but I’m not sure that shows up too well in this photo.

I’m quite happy with how this turned out. Still unsure if some Pearls would add a nice touch or be a bit too much. Any suggestions??

The inside of the card needed to be dressed up too so this is how that turned out.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Creative Elements, Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess), On Your Birthday
Card: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Morning Mocha DSP
Ink: Stazon Black, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Blender Pen, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 1 3/8” Square Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Edited to add: My card was chosen as a Pals Paper Artist Pick this week. How exciting.

I get to display this badge. How cool is that???

Till next time….

Happy Birthday ‘Friend’.

I’m here with a card for 2 challenges today. I’m so excited that I’ve actually participated in some challenges again and hope that it’s the start to regular challenge cards from me.

First challenge up is the Utah Diva Color Challenge #78 and I’ve teamed this with Sketch Challenge #111 from Cards & Things Challenge Blog.

I’ve created a birthday card using the ‘Friends Never Fade’ stamp set along with the wonderful ‘Petite Pairs’ stamp set.

P1010638

As we only have the Printed Wisteria Wonder brads which were a bit too large for the card, I’ve created some Faux Brads.

P1010639

I’ve finished off the inside of the card using the ‘other half’ of the ‘Petite Pairs’ stamp and a stamped image like the front.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Friends Never Fade, Petite Pairs
Card: Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder, Very Vanilla, Daffodil Delight Patterns Stack DSP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive & Wisteria Wonder markers, Old Olive inkpad
Accessories: Finial Press Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Cupcake Builder Punch, Crystal Effects.

I’d love to hear what you think of my creation or just that I am creating so please leave a comment.

Till next time…..

This is my final week of being a Guest Designer over at Just Add Ink.

This week we were give a sketch.

I found this one a real challenge. I’m not overly happy with my results and plan on spending some time today recreating it with  a few different touches to see if I come up with something I’m happier with. I think if I could just have some ribbon in the colour I’d prefer to have used that would even have made a difference…… Oh well with any luck their might be some revamping of ribbon with the next IB&C which isn’t too far away really.

Here’s my end creation (so far).

Nikki Stalker

See what I mean?

I’m sure it would like nicer straight away if we had some ‘Not Quite Navy’ ribbon to replace the Very Vanilla. I’m also thinking I should have layer the smaller pattern paper piece onto Not Quite Navy rather than the Sahara Sand so that will be something I’ll change. I also have some other thoughts about changes too so we’ll see what I can come up with later.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Word Play
Card: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, Blueberry Crisp DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Pearls.

Check back later today to see how my ‘revamped’ card turns out.

Edited to add:

Here’s my revamped card.

P1000995

I’ve added some stitching, a layer of Not Quite Navy behind the print piece of dsp and changed out the Very Vanilla ribbon to some Not Quite Navy cardstock.

I don’t know what you think but I think these changes lift the card more than the original.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Till next time…..

Nature for you

I managed to make another card today combining 2 challenges.

I’m using Colour Challenge SAH #64 from Stamp-A-Holics

and have combined this with the Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #65

P1000589

For my card I’ve used two of the new stamp sets from the Autumn/Winter Mini, Nature Walk and Clearly for You.

I’m not sure yet if I like my end result but thought I’d share it with you anyway. It might just need some time to grow on me.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Nature Walk, Clearly for You
Card: Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz, Subtles Patterns Stack (Baja Breeze)
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze Stampin’ Write Markers & Inkpads.
Accessories: Very Vanilla 3/8” Taffeta ribbon, Circle Scissor Plus.

Till next time…

Finally something to share…..

I’ve made a few attempt to sit and create over the past few weeks but with no success. My Mojo still hasn’t come back after my ‘family issues’ which is a shame as I was on a roll till everything happened. I’ve printed up some challenges, sat down and looked at them and had no idea what to create. Couldn’t even select a stamp set for a colour combo or a sketch. Instead I’ve been doing lots of reading. I love books but I’m running out of storage space for them all and I really don’t like going to the library and borrowing books. I’d rather own them. So what did I do? I finally converted over and purchased myself a Kindle and I love it. I’ll be purchasing all future books this way unless it’s only available in paper…… I’ve have managed to put it down for a little while though and try and get creating again.

Earlier today I printed up 2 pages of challenges for sites that I like to participate in hoping to get back in the swing of things. I then decided to pull out all my new Autumn/Winter Mini sets as I need to start using these before they aren’t available anymore. I know that sounds odd as they have only just been released but unless my mojo comes back in leaps and bounds I many not get around to using them enough which would be a shame especially if they don’t end up in our next Idea Book & Catalogue 2011|2012 which will be released on 1st September.

I selected 2 challenges, one being this weeks Inkspiration Challenge #64 which is a colour challenge and the other from Skipping Stones Designs #71 which is a sketch challenge.

Photobucket

I decided I could create something using these colours and this sketch using the new French Foliage stamp set.

This is what I came up with.

P1000587

So what do you think??

Supplies:
Stamp sets: French Foliage, You’re A Gem
Card: Cajun Craze, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla, In Color Patterns Stack (Poppy Parade), Regal Patterns Stack (Cajun Craze & More Mustard)
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Poppy Parade, Cajun Craze, More Mustard
Accessories: Regal Brads (Cajun Craze), 1 3/8” Square Punch, Linen Thread, Mat Pack & Paper Piercing Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Till next time……
