Month 2 of the swap I decided to use Rich Razzleberry as my colour theme and some different stamp sets to those listed in my Sisters questionnaire.
For Card 1 I went with a colour combination from the new Colour Coach, yet again, and teamed it with the ‘Just Believe’ stamp set.
Supplies: Stamp sets: Just Believe Card: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White Ink: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Antique Brads, Pumpkin Pie 5/8” Satin Ribbon.
And this was the inside.
Now for the second card and gift I made this.
We don’t have any current DSP (apart from the Pattern Stacks of course) that contain Rich Razzleberry so I opted for some of the retired Cottage Wall DSP. The front box contained Ferrero Rocher Chocolates and the other box was a Fantasy (or Stepper) Box.
In each of the little compartments were some Big Shot die cuts. Each container is for a single colour. The 4 colours I used were Rich Razzleberry, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Old Olive. I can’t remember all the dies assortment I put in there but there was buttons and butterflies for sure…. and I just remembered while typing out the supplies list that there was Floral Fusion in there too.
I hope she was happy with this months creations and gifts.
Now that the reveal has taken place for the 3rd round of Stampin’ Up in Oz’s Secret Sister swap I can share the items I made for my sister with everyone.
I will say this round was more of a struggle than past ones. When I received my Sisters questionnaire it was a little daunting for me. I had the 3 stamp sets she mentioned (Medallion, Friends 24-7, Artistic Etchings) but they weren’t ones I’d used yet or often. The 3 colours she listed where Rich Razzleberry (that ones lovely), Marina Mist (one I hadn’t used yet but liked) and the other was Wild Wasabi (not a colour that grabs me much at all). Even her Wish List items were a struggle as everything only fit the last month requirement or over. Being the time of year it was and our planned upcoming holiday I couldn’t go overboard with things either. I just hope she was happy enough with what was received as there wasn’t a great deal of comments on them, or explanation of what was received, to the group.
Hopefully I’ll get some comments sharing them with you all otherwise I might start thinking they really weren’t up to scratch.
The way the Secret Sister swap runs in Stampin’ Up in Oz is for each of months 1 & 2 you need to send 2 cards and a handmade gift of about $4 – $8. The gift is not the packaging but what is in the packaging.
For month 1 I decided to tackle Wild Wasabi and teamed it with the Medallion stamp and a touch of Friends 24-7 from her questionnaire.
This is the first card I sent.
I used a colour combination from the new Colour Coach of Wild Wasabi, So Saffron & Perfect Plum and used the Chalk Popping technique. The sentiment is from a Level 1 Hostess set called ‘Afterthoughts’.
I can’t say I was overly happy with this card but I wasn’t sure if it was just me and it not being my usual (colours, style, stamp, etc) or if I just didn’t like it. I was however trying to use things that my Sister liked, so hopefully I did okay.
Supplies: Stamp sets: Medallion, Afterthoughts. Paper: So Saffron, Very Vanilla Ink: Versamark, Wild Wasabi Accessories: So Saffron grosgrain ribbon, Large Oval Punch, Sponge daubers.
To complete the months requirement of 1 more card + a handmade gift I sent this which I was much happier with.
I actually wanted to keep the Tissue Box for myself, and to think I didn’t like Wild Wasabi….. This was my first attempt at a Tissue Box cover and although I’d do it a little different now after making the larger ones I was still very happy with it. The only reason I didn’t keep it is I use the larger boxes at home and only use this size in my car. It wouldn’t be seen enough under my dash in the car, nor did I think it would stand the battering it would get so I gladly forwarded it on. The cello bag contains some of the retired Wild Wasabi ribbons from past years. Seeing how it was a colour my sister liked I hope she can put it to use. As Stampin’ Up in Oz isn’t just for demos but anyone living in Australia that likes Stampin’ Up, product given as gifts doesn’t have to always be current things.
Supplies: Stamp sets: Medallion, Friends 24-7, Notably Ornate Card: Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi Patterns DSP (Subtles Patterns Stack) Ink: Wild Wasabi Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Modern Label Punch, Very Vanilla 5/8” Satin Ribbon, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Cello Bag – Medium, Circle Scissor Plus, Nestabilities (Non – SU)
So that’s Month 1 shared with you all. I’d love for you to leave a comment and let me know what you think and I don’t mind you being honest, especially about card 1 if you didn’t like it or maybe you don’t like the last items, as it’s all about trying new things and learning.
Well August means the last month and reveal of our Secret Sister swap on Stampin’ Up in Oz. A new round will be starting soon.
In this final month we are required to send 2 handmade cards and a gift including Stampin’ Up product to the value of $25.
My first card I received didn’t give away who my partner was but it did make me think it was a fellow demonstrator (Stampin’ Up in Oz is for anyone in Australia who loves Stampin’ Up not just demonstrators) as some of the items used were available to us in our pre-order.
Isn’t this card gorgeous? It’s simple yet elegant.
This card uses the lovely new Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Folder and the stamped image is from a great new set called Perfect Punches.
The colours used are Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and Pink Pirouette.
This second card my partner mentioned she was trying out some of the colour in the new Brights Collection.
This is another new set and one we received at Convention which wasn’t in our pre-order, so this was confirming it was another demonstrator. This set is called Printed Petals.
The colours used here are Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.
My final gift and reveal came like this…….
This is all made using the new Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper. Doesn’t it look fantastic!
I actually started unwrapping this before I remembered I needed a photo and had to rewrap it. Lucky it was only the brighter package and the ribbon of the small ones that I had to redo.
Inside the brighter print paper is a book. The smaller package has some lovely smelling soaps and in the clutch bag was Sticky Strip, Clear Rhinestone Brads, Dazzling Diamonds a note so I knew who my sister was and this……
a bookmark to use in the book I received as well as all the others I read……
Thank you Fiona for being a generous and very creating partner for this round. I’ve loved everything I’ve received.
Here we are at August gifts. This month was the special month with 2 cards and a gift of SU items and remember I said it’s all about the packaging. That’s what I think anyway. Of course you need to meet the minimum requirements but you need to create the handmade part which is the packaging to send the items in.
August just flew by for me, not unlike the rest of the year to be honest. I had all good intentions of having my final gift to my partner no later than the beginning of the last week of August but it was only sent last Friday by Express Post and received earlier this week. However I was even happier with August than I was with July.
Seeing I was running late my partner received her 2 cards and gift all together. I did however mark the envelopes as Card 1 and Card 2 and only revealed who I was in Card 2.
The first card she should have opened was this one.
I’m not sure if you can see the glitter that I’ve added to the flower so here’s a close up for you.
I finished off the inside by adding a strip of the DSP I used on the front of the card.
This was the final part of the package.
I’ve used another one of Lauren Meader’s templates which is holding the SU items. Inside is the Ovals Die, Medium Jewelry Tag Punch, Sticky Strip, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Cutting Blades, a Glue Stick and 5 Mini Calendar Tabs for 2011.
I also made this Post-It Note holder which fits inside the box too.
Next up I created this little box which contains 3 varieties of Tea bags.
Then there’s the remainder of those ‘sugar free’ lollies I’d purchased just for my partner.
And lastly is the card.
I wanted the card to use the same DSP as the rest of the gifts and wasn’t sure what I was going to do at first. I ended up making a suspension card.
Here’s a view of the inside.
The sentiment is one from a new Hostess Level 3 set and reads “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. – Winston Churchill”
We have a month break through September before we start out next round from October – December. Stampin’ Up in Oz is not a ‘demo only’ group but is only for those who love Stampin’ Up and live in Australia. We have restricted the group to Australia only to keep postage costs down and fair for all who participate. The Secret Sister swap is not the only thing we do over there either so why not pop over and check it out.
Today I’m sharing my July items with you that I made and sent to my Secret Sister partner.
For this month I sent my 1st card with the gift.
Again I’ve used the Urban Garden DSP and coordinating colours but have used the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set on my first items.
Inside the Tote bag was …..
Yes that is a little cello bag filled with some lollies. I couldn’t not send any but I did locate ‘sugar free’ ones which in small doses should be okay for her.
I was happy with last months gift packaging but I like this one even more. The Tote bag is one of Lauren Meader’s templates. After making this one up for my Secret Sister partner I ended up making the Tote Bag part of my August Project Class.
My 2nd and final card for July was kept to the colour them but I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set again.
and inside..
I’ve used the Rock ‘n’ Roll technique on the flowers.
