A couple of years ago when I was assisting at the P&C Mother’s Day stall for my daughter’s Primary School I was quite surprised that some children had no money to purchase something for mum to give to her on that special day. Maybe it was due to funds being tight at home, a single parent family, possibly it was just that mum or dad forgot to give them some money that day. It was quite sad seeing some children sitting on the hall stage while the rest of the class shopped. After this event I suggested making Mother’s Day cards for the children which they received regardless of a purchase so they at least could give mum a card. I offered to make and donate these and I do the same for Father’s Day. The last 2 years I’ve managed to make most of the cards using retired cardstock that I still have in my stash so it’s a great way for me to clear out some space whilst helping the children so all of them have a little something for mum.
This year I had 350 cards to make. I’d just received my Pre-Order for the upcoming (not released) Autumn/Winter Mini which included the Mixed Bunch stamp set and matching punch along with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.
Here’s what the 350 cards look like.
This is a shot of the 5 colour combinations I ended up making.
I managed to clear out quite a bit of the old ‘Bold Brights’ colours with these cards. It’s funny though as I didn’t like the old Bold Brights colours but I was really happy with how these turned out.
The colours I’ve used are Passion Pink, Gable Green, Green Galore, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow, Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac, Apricot Appeal, Almost Amethyst, Kiwi Kiss, Buckaroo Blue, Marigold Morning and Purely Pomegranate.
Here’s a close up of one to show you the detail.
This is the Buckaroo Blue, Kiwi Kiss, Purely Pomegranate and Marigold Morning combination. The sentiment is from the retired Well Scripted set.
Can you see the little hearts on the strip?? They’re from one of the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Folders. It just adds that little extra to a simple card.
Till next time…..
