A Little Bit of Sparkle….

Well I did it again this year.

What’s that you ask?

I said I wouldn’t be making swaps unless I had time and would not be doing them ‘last minute’.

I guess I must have had time because I did end up making some but it was last minute. By last minute I mean I left for Convention on the Wednesday last week and started my swaps the Saturday afternoon/evening before….lol

Mind you the inspiration for this one came from a recent card I made for Mynnette’s Birthday Blog Hop and also one of the cards I made for my ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ Make & Takes.

I sat up till the wee hours of Saturday night cutting up cardstock, punching those pieces that needed punching and measuring and cutting the ribbon. Sunday I had Markets so I sat and stamped and put some together there as it was the quietest one ever. I also printed up my Project Recipe onto labels before I left on Sunday morning so I could add them to the backs and bag each swap as I made them.

I didn’t get them all done at the markets but I had them finished before midnight on Sunday night.

All up I made 51 swap cards plus my full card that we were asked to make.

Here’s the swap card I made.

Lots of sparkle on this card but it’s not that great a picture to show that off. I have added a strip of Red Glimmer Paper on the front and added Rhinestones to the small flowers and the black Scallop Trim edge piece.  I was really happy how this turned out and received lots of compliments.

it’s a great set for some quick cards and they still look great.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Summer Silhouettes, Petite Pairs
Card: Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red, Red Glimmer Paper
Ink: Basic Gray, Stazon Jet Black, Real Red
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, 3/8” Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Rhinestones.

Would love to hear what you think of my card? Please leave me a comment and make sure you add your blog so I can return the love.

My ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ update

I held my very first Biggest Morning Tea’ fundraiser on Tuesday and had a great morning.

It was just something small held in my home.

I had 12 existing customer come along, 3 new ladies, my mum and of course me.

I had sold a few raffle tickets prior to the event at my market stalls, plus I received a donation from someone who couldn’t make it on the day and all up (to date) we raised

$458.60

My target was set for $500 so once I get hubbies contribution I will have made it.

There is still time to donate if you’d like to contribute. You can donate directly to my ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ here.

I was thrilled to have been able to reach my goal and assist a worthwhile program.

I had 6 raffle prizes to draw on the day all containing Stampin’ Up!® product generously donated by Stampin’ Up!

The winners were:

1st Prize – Gail

(Gail’s name was actually drawn for 2nd and third also, but she graciously offered a redraw to spread the goodies around)

2nd Prize – Julie

3rd Prize – Jo

4th Prize – Samantha (a newbie to all this)

5th Prize – Joan

6th Prize – Kari

All the winners attended the event which was wonderful.

Along with the raffle and of course the cuppas, nibbles and chatting, I had prepared 3 Make & Takes that everyone was able to make on the day.

They were asked to donate a gold coin for every one they wanted to make and they were free to make as many of each as they liked.

First up was a Notecard & Envelope.

This card is a CASE from Mary Fish.

When I first saw Mary’s card I knew it would be one for my ‘Biggest Morning Tea’  Make & Takes.

It’s quick and a great way to use up some retiring items like the Twitterpatted DSP, Riding Hood Red cardstock and the Notecard & Envelopes (I’m going off the US catty at the time…)

Next up was a Birthday Card.

This card was inspired by Planetmarce Design. I’d save her lovely card on my Pinterest Board.

I’ve changed out the colours and added some Dotted Scallop Ribbon for mine. Again I’ve used retiring items. Regals Pattern Stack (Not Quite Navy), River Rock cardstock, Perfect Punches Stamp set and of course the ribbon.

Last item was a 3D one.

You have probably worked out what this is but if not here’s the inside.

What better 3D item could you make at a ‘Morning Tea’……

There are so many of these out there with different variations that I can’t remember who this design idea came from.

I’ve used retiring items again on this one. Certainly Celery, Pretty In Pink cardstock, Subtles Pattern Stacks (Bashful Blue), Certainly Celery 3/8” Taffeta ribbon and the Tea Shoppe Stamp set.

“Please note that the actual retirement list is officially released tomorrow 31st May, 2013. All items I’ve indicated as retiring were taken by what was retiring in the US at the time I was preparing for my Biggest Morning Tea event.”

Thank you to all the lovely ladies that attended on the day. I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did.

Thank you for your generosity in donating to this wonderful event and helping me reach my goal.
