August Secret Sister gift for me.

Well August means the last month and reveal of our Secret Sister swap on Stampin’ Up in Oz. A new round will be starting soon.

In this final month we are required to send 2 handmade cards and a gift including Stampin’ Up product to the value of $25.

My first card I received didn’t give away who my partner was but it did make me think it was a fellow demonstrator (Stampin’ Up in Oz is for anyone in Australia who loves Stampin’ Up not just demonstrators) as some of the items used were available to us in our pre-order.

Isn’t this card gorgeous? It’s simple yet elegant.

This card uses the lovely new Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Folder and the stamped image is from a great new set called Perfect Punches.

The colours used are Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and Pink Pirouette.

This second card my partner mentioned she was trying out some of the colour in the new Brights Collection.

This is another new set and one we received at Convention which wasn’t in our pre-order, so this was confirming it was another demonstrator. This set is called Printed Petals.

The colours used here are Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.

My final gift and reveal came like this…….

This is all made using the new Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper. Doesn’t it look fantastic!

I actually started unwrapping this before I remembered I needed a photo and had to rewrap it. Lucky it was only the brighter package and the ribbon of the small ones that I had to redo.

Inside the brighter print paper is a book. The smaller package has some lovely smelling soaps and in the clutch bag was Sticky Strip, Clear Rhinestone Brads, Dazzling Diamonds a note so I knew who my sister was and this……

a bookmark to use in the book I received as well as all the others I read……

Thank you Fiona for being a generous and very creating partner for this round. I’ve loved everything I’ve received.

Till next time…..

Shoebox Swap and a sneak peek

Every fortnight a group of stamping friends and I get together at my house for a fun night of creating. Normally we all just work on our own thing but earlier this year we planned to hold a Shoebox Swap. It was originally planned for last Saturday but due to a job change for one lady and a couple of us wanting to attend an advance Copic Marker Class that same day we moved it to the Friday night which was our normal Stamp Night anyway. Generally we have 7 of us every fortnight but due to illness and a Workshop booking we came down to 5 for the night. We had a great night with 5 different projects to each create.

I had an order of ‘new’ items arrive on Thursday so I rethought my project and ended up using new goodies. Sometimes it pays to leave things to the last minute. Mind you I did have a project I was planning so it was only a matter of creating my sample and cutting my supplies for everyone else.

Here’s a group shot of all the finished items.

Projects created by (back row left to right): Pam Peters, Julie Price, Dianne Smyth
(front row left to right) Nikki Stalker and Meighan Wheller

Just in case you can’t spot the ‘new’ goodies, here’s a closer look at my project.

I’ve use the new ‘Greenhouse Gala’ DSP and the coordinating stamp set ‘Friends Never Fade’. The colours in this DSP pack are Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Baja Breeze. At first I wasn’t sure if I could create something using these items seeing how most of the flowers in the DSP are either in or using one of the 2 colours we don’t have yet. I ended up using a DSP print that had some Pumpkin Pie in it so I could stamp my image using Pumpkin Pie. I’m happy with my end result and am really enjoying these papers. Everyone made a Fancy Favour Box like this one complete with Baja Breeze shredded paper and cello bag containing 1m lengths of 3 retiring ribbons.

When I first saw the new Idea Book & Catalogue online I wasn’t too sure about a lot of the DSP that will be available but kept telling myself to wait until I have it in my hands, as in the past I’ve always changed my mind. This time in no exception. I’ve already created another quick card, which I’ll show you another time, and I’m sure I’ll be creating many more especially once we get our hands on some Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight early September.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and loved making all the projects. It was actually nice getting 4 (5 if you include our own) projects made in one night. 3 hours I think was all it took for us all to make the 4 although Meighan had 2 different colour schemes for her creation which some made both. Some Stamp nights we’re lucky to make 1 or 2 cards with all the chatter, eating, cuppas and checking out what others are doing, and other times the mojo just isn’t flowing which I’m sure we can all relate too. Anyway we’ve decided a Shoebox swap will be scheduled every 6 months or so from now on. Maybe next time we’ll do it on a Saturday so we can make more involved projects as it will start earlier in the day and go until we finish.

Till next time…..
