Butterfly Birthday

My eldest daughter has a birthday party to attend for her best friend this afternoon so last night I needed to make up a gift box for her present. I was also asked to make the card. My girls do have a good supply of their own Stampin’ Up goodies but seeing I was making the gift box I’d just make the card to coordinate.

I managed to make the gift box last night which was an idea that came from Sarah Wills’ gorgeous Carton Style gift box which you can see and also download a tutorial for here. Unfortunately my gift box needed to be a little bigger than the one in Sarah’s tutorial so I had to alter how I did mine but the outcome looks just the same. Of course I’ve used different colours, stamps and embellishments too.

Here’s my version of the gift box.

If you’re a regular visitor to my blog you may notice that I’ve used the same colour combination as in my last post creation here. Some of my stamping buddies were looking at this card at our stamp night last night when my daughter was selecting the colour combination for the gift box and when she saw it she wanted those same colours. Seeing how her friends favourite colour is blue the Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo & Daffodil Delight combo would work perfectly.

The completed gift box measures 7.5cm (or 2 15/16”) wide, 7.5cm (or 2 15/16”) deep and 11.5cm (or 4 1/8”) high (not including the handles) which makes for plenty of room for the Nutrimetics gift we’ve packed inside.

I’ve used the Brights Pattern Stack DSP in Melon Mambo & Daffodil Delight for layering. The Happy Birthday is from the Punch Bunch Sale-A-Bration set. My daughters friend also likes butterflies so I’ve used the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die for some embellishments and topped it off with some retired Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon.

I sat down to make the card this morning and decided to use this weeks Cards & Things Sketch Challenge #64 as my layout for the card.

Here’s the layout provided.

Keeping with the colour scheme, stamp set & embellishments used on the Gift box this is what I created.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Punch Bunch SAB set, Occassional Quotes
Card: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Brights Pattern Stack
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Scallop Square Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits die, Big Shot, Retired items – Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon, Rectangle hand-held punch.

I think this turned out to be a great gift set.

Till next time…..

Challenges 1

I’ve finally sat down to stamp again. School holidays really throws out your routine but I’m all done now with ‘back to school’ stuff, just need to cover books and wait for the day…..lol. My cars also ‘sprung a leak’ so until my mechanic is back from holidays, hopefully on Monday, we’re stuck at home and I hope to get more stamping done.

Yesterday I managed to make 4 cards using 4 sketches from Clean & Simple and to challenge myself a little more, they are all ‘Male’ themed. I don’t often make cards for the male species and find it quite a challenge. I’m going to spread the card postings out so you’ll need to come back over the next few days to check them out. I’d really appreciate some comments on them. I wanted these cards to be ‘simple’ with not too much cutting out or ‘fiddling’ on them. I also used stamp sets that hadn’t seen ink yet or not in quite some time.

Todays card is using FTL103 and the colours are from the Colour Coach.

In the FTL103 Sketch they have used ribbon but I decided to use a piece of cardstock instead.

Supplies:
Stamp sets: Ocean Commotion, Occasional Quotes, On Your Birthday (for insert)
Card: Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Marina Mist, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, Marina Mist, Cajun Craze

My aim was to make these cards that I’ll share with you over the next few days, suitable for Stamp-A-Stacks.

Any comments????

Till next time…..

November Technique Class Cards

I’m finally here with something I can share with you. I haven’t been doing a lot of crafting of late but what I have done I can’t share as it’s for Secret Sister swaps, so will have to wait till January after the December reveal. Apart from these swaps, I’ve just been busy with life and preparing for our trip to Fiji in a few weeks. We are all getting excited now. Still lots to do and lots of other things happening between then and now though but I do hope to start getting back a bit more often.

So on to the cards.

This months techniques were ‘Kissing’ and ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll’.

This is the card we made using the ‘Kissing’ Technique.
