Simply Said

I sat down earlier today to create a card for this weeks Inkspiration Colour Challenge #56 before it closes tonight. Here’s the colours provided for the Challenge.

These colours look gorgeous together, especially when Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze are favourite colours of mine. Adding Basic Black & Whisper White just top it off.

I wasn’t too sure what stamp set I was initially going to use but while flicking through the IB&C, hearts came to mind. At first I was thinking ‘I Heart Hearts’ but I wanted to use something new or neglected and that’s where ‘Simply Said’ comes in. I also though the Cherry Cobbler flowers over a Baja Breeze base heart would look really nice.

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve inked up my Simply Said stamp set. Are you the same? I guess when a stamp set has been around for a while and there are lots of newer ones we tend to use those and forget our older sets. That’s what I tend to do anyway.

This is my end creation using those gorgeous colours and neglected stamp set.

March Class Projects

I’ve started holding Beginner Stamping Classes at my home on a Thursday night once a month. The March class we focused around the Heat Gun and I showed how to decorate a candle with stamping, embossing and also using Heat & Stick Powder with Dazzling Diamonds.

This is 2 of the items we made.

Most of us started out stamping using embossing powder but I don’t often use it these days. It’s something I have to remind myself to use and it shouldn’t be that way. I really liked this card.

Bold Brights Challenge.

This past week I held my team meeting and they had requested that we make more cards this month instead of concentrating so much on the business side of things. I still managed to cover business updates, as I chatted while I demonstrated before they did their make & takes.

So that my team could use the cards we were going to make as either a demo or make & take at their workshops, I decided to ask them what stamp sets they still had left after taking away their retired sets and also find out what markers and WWC sets they had to determine what colours I could work with. The end result was for stamp sets: Greetings Galore, Simply Said and Heartfelt Thanks and for colours I was left with Bold Brights as I decided not to use WWC.

Now as I’ve said before, I’m not a big user of Bold Brights (I love all the colours just don’t use Bolds as often as some others and hardly ever stick to just one colour family when making a card), so I took this as a challenge for myself. I decided just to use Bold Brights for cardstock and inks only and only used Simply Said & Heartfelt Thanks for the stamp sets.

Sticking to just these items was a struggle and I was so tempted to grab a few other items but didn’t. I wasn’t overly happy with my first card and at times just sat at my desk with no inspiration coming at all. In the end the 2 initial cards we were making were made on the morning of my meeting. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute but then again I work better under pressure at times.

In the end we made 4 cards. When they saw the Mother’s Day card I had made for my Beginner Class (shown in the previous post) they wanted to make that one too and also another sample card I had made some time back using Simply Said (this card is a CASE from SCS I’ve just altered some colours).

Here are the 3 cards we made in the end. I was happy with my results but again should make more effort to use Bold Brights.
